Porta Romana is one of the six main areas of Milan and is a former city gate which dates back to the 16th century. Located south-east of the city, Porta Romana was the first and the main imperial entrance of the entire city of Milan.
Characterized today by the presence of the monumental arch built by Philip III of Spain, it stands in the center of Piazza Medaglie d’Oro, it was the starting point of the road leading to Ancient Rome.
